Venezia Contemporan- Partially Funded Residencies for Craftsmanship
Held all year around and parallel with the Venice Art Biennale and the Homo Faber Exhibition, this residency invites artisans to immerse themselves in a unique creative and networking environment. It is designed for practitioners wishing to participate in Masterclasses, present their work and engage with an international creative community during these major events.
We welcome practitioners in glassblowing, ceramics, mosaics, marbling, lace, textiles, costume- and mask-making, as well as designers and artists working across mediums, including 3D printing technologies. While 3D printing equipment is not provided, participants are encouraged to bring prototypes to display in our exhibition space.
We are interested in projects that explore the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and emerging technologies, such as integrating 3D-printed elements with techniques like metal casting, soldering, and welding. The program encourages dialogue between craft, digital innovation, and artistic vision, as well as exploring the role of AI in this field.
About the Spaces
Located in a historic building in the heart of Venice’s Ghetto, both La Storta and Skyline offer living quarters alongside gallery spaces. A vibrant area with bars, restaurants and a supermarket are nearby. Piazzale Roma (bus terminal) and the Santa Lucia train station are within walking distance. The Guglie Vaporetto stop is right around the corner. while the Vaporetto to the islands is a 20 min walk.
Application Process
There is no formal application form or fixed deadline; applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
