Venezia Contemporanea

Skyline and La Storta

Partially Sponsored Focus residency

14-31 December 2025

Veneziacontemporanea with Skyline offering artists, writers and researchers across various disciplines residency with optional exhibition opportunities parallel to the Architecture Biennale.

The residency takes place in the heart of the picturesque historic Jewish Ghetto of Venice – the first Ghetto in Europe, established in 1516.

Skyline is a newly renovated, authentic Venetian spacious fully equipped three room apartment in one of Venice’s tallest buildings with a unique breathtaking view of the rooftop across the historic city. This serene and inspiring environment invites to discover and reflect on Venice’s multi-layered facet.

Artists in residence are free to shape their own experience while enjoying Venice’s vibrant art scene and building meaningful connections. We provide support to ensure the residency becomes a transformative opportunity – fostering artistic growth.

The residency is an opportunity to be immersed in the vibrant cultural tapestry of Venice. Visit the Art Galleries, Museums and Biennale, join one of the Venetian Artigiani courses such as Glass blowing, explore the lagoon and islands.

Optional studio and exhibition opportunity in our gallery. Conveniently located below the studio, facing the campo. The gallery is open to the public Sunday through Friday and is usually staffed during opening hours, meaning residents are welcome to work in the space and exhibit but not required to be on-site at all times.

We are open to projects across all themes and disciplines. Residents are free to pursue their own creative inquiries, while final selection is made by our committee to ensure that projects are a good fit for the residency’s context.

Optional Focus Residency

We are offering special support for the Focus Residency for December 2025! Jewish heritage and Jewish/Israeli identity of all background

In a world of rapid change and unpredictable realities we encourage artists to explore themes of prejudice, racism, discrimination social justice, and identity through diverse interpretations.

Along with our running program, we support international artists, writers, designers and interdisciplinary collectives working collaboratively to explore lesser-known aspects of the Ghetto and uncover Venice’s Jewish heritage. We welcome artists whose work engages with the Ghetto’s rich cultural tapestry-a historic crossroads of traditions since the 15th century-and its evolving legacy.

Located in the heart of the world’s first Jewish Ghetto, we encourage the application of artists addressing a wide range of perspectives on Jewish identity, and the challenges that Jewish and Israeli artists, writers and researchers are facing today.
